Did you ever think about how much of the world (or of the USA) you’ve actually visited?  Now come two handy websites that build you a map, based on input you provide.  To map out every state visited, go here, and top map out all the countries visited, a much more daunting task, go here. 

Shifting Populations

The Center for Climate Systems Research at Columbia’s Earth Institute has created a map showing what the likely population shifts will be by the year 2025.  This map takes into account probable sea level rise and the coastal dislocations it will bring. Southern and Eastern Europe and Japan are expected to experience population declines, though the number of people living near the coasts worldwide is expected to increase by over 35 percent. 

Mongolia Blogs

If you ever needed more proof that blogging is becoming embedded in the human psyche, go no further than here, and see the first ever (?) blog from and about Mongolia.  This obscure (to Americans) country actually produces the second-most dinosaur fossils in the world, trailing only the USA. But it took an American student, Luke Distelhorst, to pull Mongolia into the blogosphere.  Way to go, Luke!

Spring Training in Jupiter, FL

Well, I just returned from my trip and unfortunately the battery on the digital camera was dead – sorry, no pics.  You can rest assured I saw two victories for the Redbirds against the Yankees and Braves respectively.  A very nice, long, (yet very quick) weekend.

Costa Rican Vacation

Baseball Playoff Pilgrimage to St. Louis

Just because I live in New York does not mean I’ve been brainwashed into the notion that the Designated Hitter rule is good for baseball.

My beloved Cardinals are playing for one of the last times in the NLCS at old Busch Stadium, so I hopped a quick afternoon flight and got downtown in time for Game 2 against those pesky Astros.  Here I am at the game with my good friend - Jim Watry.

                              

I hope to make the Redbirds’ home opener in the new Busch Stadium.
